Doesn't bother me to be honest, article clarifies it's an anti-fraud system and there's nothing on my PC of note.

Not bothered, I use eBay and therefore want it to be free of malicious users and this is one of the measures that does work against preventing fraud, bots, etc.
People should be responsible for their own online security. I kind of just hate this society that has steadily developed where everyone is treated like 5 year olds and big corporations/government have to be able to invade all of our privacy (not just the vulnerable) in order to protect us.
If you aren't good with computers do a course and buy security software, it's not rocket science to be protected online.
