I am probably being an idiot but i am trying to flash the bios to 1.9, could anyone send me a link and tell me the best way to do this?

i have upgraded the chipset drivers to 6.7 from the nvidia website

the main reason i am changing the bios is becuase my RAM (geil value dual 1gb) pc3200

RAM is currently running at 2.5 , 3 , 3 , 6 2cmd

i have changed the RAM to 1T (im guessing that 2cmd means that its running at 2T??

any help would be great

thanks for your help simon, when you make the bootable floppy in xp do you just format the disk and put the bin file onto it or do you do anything else?

thanks again

Duncan

Hi Duncan,

You can find full details in the user guide page 4-1 onwards.

In general prepare a bootable floppy using xp by selecting create an MS-Dos startup disk in the formate option.

Download the file from web site and unzip and then copy the bin file to the floppy.

Restart your machine press the alt +F2 key during post to display the following. "Insert disk then press enter or esc to continue"

follow the instructions and that should be it.

Important do not shut down or reset the system while update the bios.

Do you have a backup of your current bios, just in case that you need to go back?

Good luck

Simon

On the asus you can update to a newer bios in windows but not go back to an older bios. If you want to go back to an older bios you have to use floppy disc method. The program is asus update utility and can be downloaded from their website with the bios file
