Hi
I was wondering how you moniter the temp of your motherboard? i have ati system tray which moniters the temp of my graphics card but i would like to no the temp of the motheboard and no if its possible to change the fan speed of the fan on the motherboard, that the one on top of the heat sink im guessing.

Can anyone tell me the normal temp of a motherboard or what the reccomended temp is and how to access it?

cheers guys

Liam

Normal temp depends on board but somewhere between 25 - 40 degrees, speedfan and motherboard monitor 5 can both read board temps as can Asus probe if it is an Asus.

if its possible to change the fan speed of the fan on the motherboard, that the one on top of the heat sink im guessing.
Again depends on board but not always a good idea even if possible.

i got an asus board, are you saying im not meant to no the temp of the motherboard? i just wanna make sure it doesnt over heat.

Use asus PC probe, it should be on your driver CD

No, I quoted you saying about adjusting the motherboard fan speed when I said it "isn't always a good idea even if possible".

oh right sorry man cheers for your input i get you now i'll have a look for asus probe on my driver cd's

cheers

What ive done in the past is buy a digi temps LCD you can get these for about £5 and they are very easy to fit, just place the probe next to the side of your cpu heatsink and hold it in place with some bluetak.

ok mate cheers for that but have you heard of asus probe and do you no if its any good?

Dude, Asus probe comes with your motherboard, there isn't exactly much to temperature monitoring software and they are all free, try it, you like it great, if not try another :p

Sometimes there will be minor differences between temps due to the method used to calculate them from the board sensors but you can trust Asus to know how to monitor their own boards, everything will be indicated to you and you won't have to figure out which temp is which or anything.

Try it and see already! :D

I dloaded the asus probe program and when i went to install it, it came up not an ASUS board? very strange but it is an asus board. i went into the bios and found the temps in there but i wanted to no if there was a way to get them displayed on my desktop.

any ideas? or other good programs that might do this?

cheers again

ok mate i'll try speed fan instead just thought it was very wierd saying i have not got an asus board when i have, never mind i'll give this ago

cheers for your help mate

just went into the bios settings on my pc and the temps in there were

CPU 80 OC

MOTHERBOARD 30 OC

IS THAT OK NOT SURE BOUT THE 80OC ON THE CPU, WHAT PART IS THE CPU I CANT THINK?

1.5% CPU use and 72C (80C) in BIOS?

CPU = Central Processor Unit, i.e the processor.

What's your full system spec?

windows xp service pack 2
160 gig HD
1 gig ddr ram
2x dvd RW
pentium 4 cpu 2.93ghz
