As title really!

I'm looking at minimizing some of the more manual checks/processes and fax lines have come up.

Currently the service desk night teams manually send a test fax and confirm received - surely there is a better, more reliable solution?

TIA :)

Are you still using physical faxes inbound? If so some of the recent HP Officejet fax machines can forward faxes to email or a network folder.

You can then set up some kind of folder/email watching to send alerts.

Yes sorry I should have stated - some physical remain.

I had imagined a paid service, something a bit like pingdom that monitors website uptime.

Im a product manager for a monitoring company, but it sounds like you just need something really simple - and monitoring of a fax line if its (as Armageus said) physical may be slightly tricky to monitor.

These guys popped up when i did a brief google - http://faxping.com/ - seem to fit your requirements?
