Coz mine is rubbing against the chain when the front gear is at the middle/large with the rear on the smallest 2 gears. I tried adjusting the 2 screws but it still catches it. Dunno what happened, it didn't do that yesterday.

Whatever you do, don't adjust the two screws! The two screws set the limits to which the mech can operate, all this means now is that your mech may overshoot the inner or outer rings.

What you should do first is tighten the cable slightly. This is done by turning the adjuster on the shifter anti-clockwise, a bit at a time. As it's a new bike you've got, it'll likely just be a case of the cable stretching as they do.

Exact same happened to me when I just bought the bike. Here is the thread I started about it.

Should be enough info in there to help you solve it. It is very hard to get it adjusted so it never rubs in any gears and is done through painstaking trail and error

oops, read that and tried to rotate the cage after looser a screw and now it won't change gear ! guess i'll just have to take it to the LBS in the morning for them to do it properly. Hopefully it won't take long since i know what the problem is now.

Oops its not that hard to set it up again yourself. Undo the cable on the mech, line the mech up with the chainrings, screw the limiter screw so it doesnt rub when in 1st gear or 9th gear, bolt on cable, shift up and if all is good set the top limiter screw.....if not tweaking the barrel adjuster usually gets it shiftign properly.

I am going to let my LBS to do it i think before i do any more damage !

Eek! Sorry that happened to you. You have probably just caused the cables to go slack or something. The way I did it was to adjust the L screw while in the lowest gear then the H screw while in the highest gear and then run through all the gears. Takes a bit of fiddling to get it perfect. If your bike is a brand new one then the shop should do it free of charge for you.

I have a tune up booked in for 2 weeks time, i could wait til then since i am away next week or get them to fit it in tomorrow.
