going from my other thread about cache, I have a gigabyte GA-MA74GMT-s2 which is am3 with ddr3 and currently has an Athlon ii x2 250 which at the moment I haven't tried out yet really(installing windows) and the aim of this old system is run anno 2205 well and some older games, so I am building it for such, but I know the dual core wouldn't manage anno well enough even if I overclocked and purchased another gtx 750 for example(no gpu card at present).
Now when I had my haswell build with the i3 4160, 16gb ram, gtx 750 1gb oc I ran anno smoothly on high at over 50fps as well as my other demanding games at 768/720p res which is what I'm using again.
I know the architecture is very different and haswell being more advanced etc, but could I expect similar performance levels if I had the same gpu plus a triple core for example? Or would I in fact need at least the x4 processors?
At the moment I only have 2gb ddr3 which is the 1333 type(nearly had 4gb but new ram wrong or faulty) and this board only supports 8gb max, but that shouldn't make too big of an impact really.
