How does it make feel apple owners fee, knowing the shockingling bad conditons those products are ma

After reading the OP I threw my iPhone out the window never to be used again. I feel so bad for using one for so many years, will I ever be forgiven?

You may be forgiven. Redemption takes action. Action speaks louder than words.

Before you buy a product try to see how ethical the company is currently. There are many websites that can assist you with this. Or even drop me an email as I specialize in finding most ethical companies possibly.

It is not too late fellow. I was in the dark for many years. Until I have stepped in to the light and saw that I can make a difference with even the smallest purchases.

Yes you can! Do it! Blesses

Did you guys know they cut the beaks off chickens at KFC to stop them pecking each other in the cramped conditions and therefore tarnishing the chicken?

I still enjoy KFC :)

Moral of the story, who gives a ****, life goes on.

Everyone jumps on Apple as an easy target, but they are the only ones actually doing something about it and are the only ones who actually inspect their factories.
Buy anything made in Asia from any company; Samsung, Nokia and you will see the same and worse.
This, well others do it as well make reports and act on it.

The sockets in pretty much every modern Intel PC are made by Foxconn aren't they, I would imagine AMD is the same.
+ this

As much as I hate to say it and as much as I feel people should work in good working conditions. No, I'm not concerned, not because I have Apple many products, it's because if I did, I would be a hyprocrite.

I would either have to start looking at all aspects of my purchases. Jeans, t-shirts, ties, socks, coffee beans, toilet paper, trainers, crisps, breakfast cereal, watch, television, bluray player, headphones, car, tyres, matches, kitchen knife, sharpening stone.....

Where does it stop?

Or do I stop at Apple? Because it is fashionable to do so?
+ this.

OP is a hypocrite, most of the OPs electronics will come from China and many from the same factories.

Not only do I not care (and thats not due to no heart), it's actually essential.
You have to create wealth, before you can have h&s and other laws.
These laws costs thousands per employee in lost economic product. If you look at the per head figures china is very poor. Every country will/can go through this at some point. We went though it in the industrial revolution, that created the wealth needed to start the slow progress of laws.
When you(op) sell all your stuff, then you can come back and moan. Or when China has the equivalent GDP per head as we do and has not enacted similar laws, then you can come back and moan. Untill then you might want to jump off the stupid bandwagon. Also without these factories, they would be even worse off than they are now.
And at it to a massive list of why being born/living I the uk is a huge start in life.

Edit - in fact just picked up a keyboard from post office which came direct from China.

How can anyone say that Foxconn workers are put in poor working conditions? They put safety nets up around buildings to stop people from falling out of the building, what other company provides this level of safety?!

After reading all the posts in this thread I get the impression that it is not just Apple that are guilty of this kind of thing.... Not sure why but I am glad it took circa 50 posts practically stating so... You know, as if they were the first to say it, to make me realise :p

Lol, who cares.

Its not exactly slave labour, these people have applied, accepted and chosen to work there every day. They can choose to leave if they so wish.

Im confident there are factory's in the UK similar to this anyway.

Having those factories, however poor a condition, is a starting point for improvement in those countries. Work > no work. In time their workforce becomes more skilled and gets higher wages and eventually they get decent standards. No factory, it stays rubbish there.

Harsh truth.

The really sad thing is that without poverty the world's economy would collapse. Imagine if everyone employed to make your products was paid full wages. Try buying something cheap in that world.

The only solution to these problems is to bring all manufacturing back to the west throwing 10s of millions of already poor people on the dole causing mass unemployment in the worlds most populated country which then least to destablisation of that region and then a wider conflict then war.

Good idea none the less.

I dislike Apple, but I also feel that I can assess a situation subjectively. While I understand where they are coming from:

- This is nothing new - I would bet that pretty much any Asian produced electronics will be similar. Hate on Apple, hate on all the others
- Similar to the documentary produced a while back detailing the working conditions for Primark employees in India, the general theme coming from people they interviewed was that they didn't care about the conditions too much - they needed the work
- The article states that people have resigned. if people can afford to do this then there is a degree of choice working there. If jobs are tight people will do it

I'm not advocating poor working conditions and "slave labour", it's clearly wrong - however it's also subjective to the country, it's ethics and what it's people expect

It's the natural conclusion of capitalism, I will do something about it when the time is right to, things are going to get far worse before they get better.

I am just pointing facts. APples clean white apple image has been forever stained in blood.

Did you even look at those pictures? Hardly looks squalid, they also pay better than most other factories in China.

Not only that, Foxconn make components that are used in damn near every elecrical device you own.

Have fun being amish I guess Arek, at least you won't be able to keep bothering us.
