How easy is it to build a pc for a complete novice ?

On the Zalman Z9 door, the mesh holes look big, does dust get in easy as it looks like it could from the size of the mesh holes ?

Also while i'm here just a couple of quick things, that internal wi fi card you posted above doesn't get good reviews on the customer feedback tab, would it be safer to go with the dongle or a better wi fi card if they have one on here.

MEMORY: Because i'm going with a Gigabyte board that has blue in it, would these Corasair Vengeance be suitable for the Gigabyte motherboard above which i'm going to use ? Do you rate them as memory ?

Dust does "catch" on the side panel mesh. There are dust filters at the front of the case, so dust does collect at the front too, easy enough to dust down if im honest. I've owned the Z9 case for quite sometime, it's quirky but it's hard to grumble for what you get for the price.

The wifi card had good and bad reviews. Unless it's a unanimous decision, I generally put really bad reviews down to user error. I never spec stuff I wouldn't buy myself ;) If you'd prefer the USB dongle fair enough, the one advantage is that you can use a USB extension so you can place the USB dongle in different places to get a better signal sometimes.

The RAM you have linked isn't low profile. Those "agressive" looking heatspreaders on the RAM are a pain if you want to fit aftermarket heatsinks over the top of them. It would be wiser to go with something like THIS instead, if you want to continue the blue theme.

How do you copy and paste a shopping basket like people have previously done on the thread where it displays it in the same form.

Ive ordered my build from OCUK and should be here tomorow.

The bluray writer will burn and read DVDs too bud. You don't need an extra optical drive. I hope the bluray was a retail unit and not OEM ;)

I have a card reader in my Z9 too. Does prove handy from time to time and looks good sat in the bay :)

The blu ray burner is retail, i need an extra optical drive to copy from one disc to another as i burn quite a lot of dvd's as back up.

When you can (probably best to do it before you start building, will save hassle) I'd swap the fans which come with that case for some of these, they're a lot quieter than the Zalman ones. And as for the side panel, i've got one of these and it does a blinding job.

It's common practice to make an image of the disk (.iso file or similar) and then burn that, rather than do burns on the fly. You can keep the image on the HDD as a backup too, there are virtual drive software tools that let you "mount" these isos and use them instead of burning them to disk.

It's all clever stuff lol

Thanks for the pointer, with it being my first build i'll just try and get it going first then i can look into slight mods later, the fans seem an easy upgrade so i can do them at any point i guess.

These are the fans i was going to look at, someone mentioned them on another thread on here.

The Z9 fans aren't that bad if im honest. Cutting the hex mesh away improves airflow and helps with the noise.

Bitfenix has sent me two of THESE to help test the hydra pro fan controller. Note they are still blue LED. Their fan controller will allow me to turn the LEDs on and off :D

As the Z9 can take 140mm at the top and front I requested bigger than 120mm ;)

Operating system question.

With windows 8 not far away dop you reckon it would be better to install the windows 8 preview version as my OS for the time being like someone suggested previously then decide later if its better to go with 7 or stick with 8 ?

I presume that windows 7 will drop in price once 8 is released.

After all the help/advice i've given, I'm not sure I like being refered to as "someone" lol

Yes I think it's wise to try the preview. October isn't really that far away to wait in my opinion. If you don't like windows 8 then by all means get windows 7 instead

Cheers Stone, when i select Windows 7 64 bit as the operating system do i need to download everything on the list underneath, forgive me as i'm not an expert in this, its my first build. I'd rather ask than potentially put the wrong or un-needed drivers in.

Also, whats the order to install the drivers, do they have a set order to be loaded and do you need to re-boot after each driver has been installed ?
