I would probably not bother with a H50 and get a <£40 air cooler (Titan Fenrir, Heatsink + quiet fan), or consider the Antec Kuhler 620 instead.

Don't really like the looks of the case but it's subjective :) Seems to be well engineered. Hope the 6950 will fit.

Shame this wasn't a Sandy motherboard, even with a broken Cougar Point. Would be a crass thing to sell the mobo and go Sandy though.

Apart from that... seems sensible enough. Maybe some nice speakers, like the Edifier R1600T.

EDIT : may need some thermal compound with the Kuhler.

can u return the p55 gd80 and get a sandybridge mobo and cpu instead? that would be faster, if not the i5 760 is still a fast chip. Apart from that it looks like a good build.

Would be a crass thing to sell the mobo and go Sandy though.

i;d go sandy bridge for two reasons:
- incredible performance and overclocking potential
- less heat so can get away with mid-air cooler

and your dad surely bought that mobo for you becuase he thought it was the best, so im sure he would understand that your trading it in for a different model that is more to your specific needs :p

Quite no need to spend so much on a keyboard - the Sidewinder X4 gets better reviews, is cheaper and not being Razer is less likely to break.

For £1 more you can get the Cyborg V5 which CustomPC actually rates as being the best gaming keyboard around.

I agree with Olivier on the cooler - and Kuhler 620 is an updated version of the H50 that out-performs it significantly. However, a Akasa Venom or Titan Fenrir will both do the job more than adequately!

Rest looks very good though (even if I can't stand Razer :p)

yeh i planned to go with the i5 760 for quite some time so my old man got me the mobo :)

my partners bro has the razer deathadder and lycosa keyboard and i really like the looks and how it feels when gaming

gpu wise, is the 6950 a good choice and will it be ok with the case and build ?? or maybe a gtx480 ??

also im going to be gaming on a 26" sony HD 1080p TV soon so again card ??

HD6950 2GB version can be flashed to a HD6970.

Decent choice, overkill for 1080p but there won't be anything you can't max.

GTX480 gives slightly better frames but uses A LOT more power and is significantly hotter.

ok thanks guys :)

also i have taken the advice and changed the cooler the the antec kuhler 620 :D also anyone know when these are instock ??

cheers guys

That's one thing though, maybe best to ask Overclockers about availability. You could always go with a retail CPU, use the supplied cooler, and upgrade and OC later. Maybe worth waiting to get some user feedback before (reliability, noise, ect...) since it's relatively new tech.

However, the Antec and the H50 requires some work on the backplate but the Zalman has a nice big cutaway at the back for easy access.

If you do have the possibility to change for Sandybridge i5-2500K, you'll get all round package. The HD6950 is good, and you can also go for the 560ti, there isn't much in them. That 6950 does have 2GB ram.

Personally I wouldn't go for the 480, unless you want pure performance, but for me power consumption, noise and heat are also important.

a i5-2500K basket.

Your Basket
1 x XFX ATI Radeon 6950 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £199.98
1 x Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail with FREE Shogun 2 Game £179.99
1 x Asus P8P67 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION ** £124.98
1 x Antec TruePower New Modular 750W Power Supply - With FREE 3D Mark 2011 Advance £87.98
1 x Coolermaster CM-690 II Lite Dominator Case - Black £57.98
1 x Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) £43.99
1 x Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD105SI) £38.98
Total : £746.48 (includes shipping : £10.50).

You can even add a couple of fans in there. It's a shame OcUK don't have the windowed version of the case.

The things like the cooler, keyboard and mouse can be added later at no detriment to the rest of the build, but if you want a Sandy within your budget, you'll have to make due with this, use your current stuff for a while, and upgrade the other components later. Sell you 1156 (don't think you can just return it but it's worth a try) to get a bit of money back, maybe towards the keyboard and mouse. As a core system that's got a lot of power and legs to carry it for a few years.

A stock cooler on i5 is perfectly fine, and overclocking can be something you can do later but it's unlikely your system will lack in the power department.

Just an idea.
