How long does it take for people to become addicted to nicotine?

Ive tried one, not addicted, although, a few times since, i have wanted to have a bit of a friends  gheyyy, never again. Hated it, smelt bad, looked bad even felt bad inside me.

She's a retard then?

so your saying everyone who smokes by choice instead of addiction is retarded?

Why is it that it seems so few people can accept that there are people who compleatly understand the risks of smoking, and still want to smoke because they enjoy it.

Prob because the government says so...

Freedom of choice is one of the few freedoms left. If people choose to smoke that is their right to do so. I know it's a health hazard, but what isn't these days?

Phones cause cancer
Eating makes you fat
Driving a car can kill
Walking down the street can kill you

I'd say you can't tell how long it will take to become addicted, it would depend on the person. Some people say they wanted more after their first, others say it took months. As said, 95% of it is mental addiction. The physical addiction itself is gone after something silly like 48 hours. After that it is all in your head.

I agree that smokers are retards. To wilfully do something so damaging to your health for no benefits what so ever seems stupid to me and if you have kids then it's selfish too. Don't say you enjoy it, that is just the addiction talking as there really is nothing about it to enjoy. I've spoken to smack addicts who have said the same thing. Not saying people shouldn't be able to do it, hell I think drugs should be legal. I'm just saying that it's stupid to do so. I'm ashamed that I used to smoke and stopping is the best thing I ever did. :)

For me it didnt take long, maybe a few weeks but i've had problems with weed as well which people assure you is only mentally addictive. Glad i've both but for a long time now (weed 4 years, fags 1 year).

Crikey, just proves the saying that there's no non-smoker worse than an ex-smoker. Just because they were addicted, they think they have the right to slam people who still are. How quickly they forget :D

It differs, some people get physically addicted after one cigarette, some never do. I fell into the latter category. I smoked for nine years, not because I ever had any physical craving but because I liked the taste and it become habitual. You could say I was psychologically addicted, but it wasn't physical [you could also argue that one form of addiction is as relevant as the other].
