After a lot of fun and games with the post office (avoid avoid avoid) I got a new line put in on Tuesday from BT.

I live in the city centre of Sheffield, there is one exchange for the whole area and I can see it from the roof of my building. According to my post code, it is the exchange my line should be on.

I have chosen to go with O2's LLU ADSL. I just tried to set it up, and was told by the call centre that I can only have O2 access...non LLU.. no ta.

When i check my line on samknows, it reports that I cannot get BB in my area at all - which i suspect is just because the line isn't yet on the database.

Any idea how long I have to wait before I can actually find out what service I can get?? I'm fed up with mobile internet!!

you mean 5 days from the new line going live to them being able to recognise it, or 5 days after you ordered it to it become activate (i'm asking the first)

I was able to order as soon as BT had finished activating the line (it took 4 working days for them to set it up). There weren't any issues with it not being recognised. Maybe you need to chase BT about it?

It can actually take up to a couple of weeks for the new line to show up in O2/Be's database for ordering their LLU service on.

Took about a week the last time I had a new line installed, should normally be quicker than that but I would't be too hasty to rush off and just get another provider.

According to a big list on a be user groups reports my exchange, SLSF is not taking orders for LLU

It takes time between BT activating your line and them updating the database for 3rd parties to see the line, normally 24 to 48 hours. At least that is what sky advise.

It went live Tuesday, every other LLU provider in the exchange say we're good to go, and a list shows SLSF is at capacity for be / o2

I'll register interest, but tbh I'm not holding much hope. I don't want a place on a network running on the edge.

Il just keep my new o2 router and go elsewhere!
