Supposing a complete tennis novice who'd never been in a competetion suddenly became (by magic) the best tennis player in the world.
How long would it take them to get to a grand slam?
Presumably they'd have to start at their smallest local tournament and work their way up?

If they were the best player in the world then they would be noticed quickly I'd imagine, so a wildcard for one of the slams might be a possibility.

I would guess that they would have to be blasting the pro tour circuit after a year of winning the unknown tournaments available. Once your on the pro level cards I would say regular wins consistently for a year would be required to get you up to number one. So thats two years hazarding a guess but there must be someone on these forums whos a tennis nut and can point out the inaccuracies.
