How long would you keep on P Plates

I would personally say that for most "drivers", if you were confident in your driving when you've just passed your test, your probably delusional, overconfident

There is a big difference between being confident and being overconfident.

I know some girls who are a quivering wreck if they have to go near a town or motorway - this is called not being confident.

I am happy to drive through all towns and on all motorways just find - this is called being confident.

I know some people who, when learning, thought they would be fine to drive through the centre of big cities and quickly found that they couldn't and ended up stalling/cutting people up etc. - this is called over confidence.

LOL :D

I never put P plates on, never even considered them. At 18 years old I'd have been absolutely caned by my mates if I had!

I actually think you're on to something here. If i had a child i would tell them that the first fault accidentl/incident they had in their car would result in me putting P plates onto the car for 3 months.

That'll learn 'em! ;)

Will see how it goes with them off for a few days and see if it makes any difference.

Have to say I probably wouldn't have let them anywhere near the car when I was 18, if I'd gone through all this back then, not that they were even made then I think.

I may be way off here but isn't it law that your supposed to use the plates for [time] after passing the test? cant you be pulled/fined for not doing so? Im asking not telling hence my un-sureness :P

*EDIT*

Nvm, google is my friend.

only in Northern Ireland (who have to display R plates rather than P plates)

over here its just something copied from elsehwere. Its not in the highway code or similar.
