This is a fairly stupid thread given its not hard to reset the MPG counter and then just nail the throttle up a sliproad. I can get 6mpg doing that.

+1, I've had 6-8mpg on the computer before now after a quick rag

///SERIOUS BUSINESS///

new rule, all participants must burn at least 1 gallon of fuel :)

now its all proper and stuff :@)

well with these days of economy motoring, everyone worrying about the cost of petrol/diesel etc all we seem to see is look at my epeen and my 60mpg pictures being posted

managed some spirited driving in the vectra and got it down into the low 20's :)

bear in mind i dont drive a 3.2 v6 or a 2.8 turbo, i drive a supposedly economical 1.9 CDTI :)

Spirited driving at 9mph average speed

managed to get 9mpg out of the ST after completely thrashing it, the fan stayed on for ages after i turned it off lol

 should have cruised a bit to cool her down :(

i managed 19mpg around Brands hatch, and 21mpg around Snetterton, but thats because my "in" laps were slow, 5th gear cruises to cool everything down. I get less mpg going over dartford crossing:rolleyes:

I've got no digital readout on my Volvo, but it averaged 20MPG on the last 80l tank.
So I'm sure if I floor it everywhere around town, off the lights, etc it'll be nearer 15 :/

With a heavy right foot, my Saab will do 4mpg :D With a gentle right foot, I've seen 40 just before I fell asleep :p

The Saab turbo rally cars used to use fuel and water for the water injection at the same rate

oh I did for about 3 mins at idle until the oil temp went back to normal, but the fan stayed on for ages, I guess the fez ST is less thirsty than the focus lol

I find it ironic that Foxtrot has started this thread when only last week he was complaining about fuel prices and was going to jack his job in because of it. :)

fuels came down round here woot :)

128.9 now at my local filling station :)

but hey i'm a taxi driving git, i like to moan

I love these threads. Inspires me to keep my Octavia for a bit longer despite the nagging thought that I should ditch it for something cheaper to run.

Worst I have seen between fill ups is 26.4mpg and my average over the winter has been 31.1mpg... and I'm not one for eco driving.

I assume I was wrong on the 9mph average speed...

When I did the RR day in the VR-4, going from Swindon to Tewkesbury, 3 passenger rides (4 and 5 up), and back to Swindon, I did around 120 miles from almost a full tank...

11.2 MPG

I think it only got up that high because I was modestly sedate on the trip back to Swindon... if I'd continued driving as aggressively as I had the rest of the day, I'm sure that would have been single-digit.
