How many GDers are still into high-end PCs?

New hobbies have come and gone since first joining OcUK, went through a stage of spending all my money on my car, now I'm at University all my money go's into food and beer!

the last computer I built was when I was about 14, I'm now nearly 20!

I'm sure when I'm the other side of uni with a good job all of my hobbies on the back burner will come back! :D

My system is old spec with XP2600 and Radeon 9800pro. However, i'm saving my pennies and intend to splash out early 2008 as i miss not being able to play latest games.

i gave up on chasing the fastest bits ages ago, i currently run a dell 1ghz, 512mb laptop but with a superb 1600x1200 display. Its plenty fast enough for me and is saving me a fortune.

also, if vista would have been half decent i might of bothered upgrading but having played with it for a month or so...its cak.

What about you? Have you grown out of spending silly money on your system? Got another expensive hobby (girlfriend?) to waster your hard earned quids on?
I last upgraded a year ago (spec in sig). I think my next change won't be for a long time though. If I want to play games in the future I think I'll switch to consoles cos I cant be bothered spending over a grand again on something which will be obsolete in a few months.

Main requirements for a PC nowadays:

Internet
Itunes
MSN Messenger

Pretty much all I ever use it for!
Same here pretty much, though I do lots of downloading and watching shizzle on my PC and some minor video editing.

I may upgrade my PC for Crysis but I'm not sure, personally this PC I'm on now would last me fine until 2010 odd probably.

Rarely game since the PC is lacking gamewise and has been for a while, my PC runs Vista superbly so really not a big reason for me to upgrade except Crysis.

Vista is a great operating system, I've not had 1 crash and only a few minor (now fixed) bugs. It's also a lot faster at loading programs than XP.

my pc runs cs:s and thats about the most demanding game i play on it tbh.... so i'm actually considering a decentish laptop as a replacement if i ever get money. last time i upgraded was to go to an X1800XT and 2gb ram. other than that my opty has been running at 2.8ghz since new (2.0 stock).

i did clean out the dust the other day as well.... i remember now why i used to give it a once over once a fortnight... wow @ the dirt!

I'm nowhere near how I used to be. I would literally buy a new graphics card, high end, every 6 months. Usually within a month of launch. Now I upgrade properly once every 18 months. Last upgrade was a few months ago, probably won't bother again until after Uni.

Other things take my money instead, girlfriend is cheap to run but the car... isnt.
