So, I'm trying to buy TF2. But at no stage before entering my card details does it actually give me a FINAL price. It just says $29.99 'plus tax'.

Is this VAT at 17.5%? Or something else? How much is it actually going to cost me? Why dont they tell me how much they are going to charge to my card first? Is that even legal?

Its american "sales tax". Not sure what that is in a percentage though.

It does tell you the final amount before you hit submit though.

I think you enter your card details and then it presents you with a summary of your purchase (with the tax included) before you make a final confirmation.

They should really have the prices shown in different currencies, just quoting it in Dollars will just put off a lot of people thinking it's for the US only.

It doesn't say that. It just says 'tax'. It gives you no idea how much the tax is. I've got to the stage where I enter my card details but don't want to until I know how much it is.

problem is valves website is american

and in america there sales tax (our VAT) isnt fixed. its differs from state to state. They cant really give you a final price till they know where you live

if you live in florida, you'll pay different rates of tax to people in new york etc..

so when you put in that you dont live in the USA at all, and you live in the UK, it hads the sales tax for your region, which in our case is 17.5 % VAT.
