As title, my other halfs working on a bank holiday and after going over her contract it seems she will only get an extra 70p per hour over her normal pay (around £6.70 or so an hour), where as I get double pay per hour at my job, is this right ? Iv had a look on the net carnt really find anything, what im wondering is, by law is there a minimum amount of extra pay a company has to pay if your working bankholiday ? like time and half etc ? I -dont think- they have to give you n e extra by law, but im just wondering

I don't think you HAVE to give anyone overtime on a BH, it's just "the done thing" by (most) companies. If it's outlined in the contract she only gets an extra 70p per hour, then she'll have to suck it up TBH.

I don't think there is a minimum - it's just up to the company to decide what they need to offer to get people to give up their bank holidays.

70p extra an hour sounds a bit tight, at Tesco's I'm on 2.5 x pay on a bank holiday (£14.68 an hour for the easiest job in the world woohoo) and Tesco's are a very tight company. It would be triple pay if I'd worked for the company long enough.

We had something like this before, I'm pretty sure it should say what your entitled to in your contract. Check out the CAB website, specifically this page.

Triple time for me, but people rarely work BH in the office.

Weekends are Double Time

Any hrs over scheduled hours in the week are paid at x1.5

you are entitled to absolutely nothing,

your terms are laid out in your contract of employment its common practice to agree to those terms when you start working, that is all you are entitled to anything above that is charity on the part of your employer.

It also sucks if the day falls on a normal working day, for example, shift work, then you get normal pay. It is only "better" companies that offer double time etc..
But as said before by others, it depends what is written on your contract/employment agreement

Your OH should just take the BH off, it's not worth working for an extra 70p/

Tesco arent that tight when it comes to pay, they pay well because the jobs suck, which leads to a high staff turnover, so by paying higher they reduce that turnover.
