Just started my first build, I have lined up the cpu with the notches when pushing the lever down it won't go down with out a lot of force is this right?

Thanks, I thought I bent some pins

Or do what I did, push the clips down knowing full well it was spot on but felt it was broken. Took the cpu out again, looked at the pins and saw them all aligned inwards thinking they should all be faced up. Heart attack moment that I bent all the pins . Put the cpu back in again exactly the same as before, pushed the clip down as hard as I could while praying as it sounded like It was breaking the cpu.

Everything works

Last system I built was the AMD X2 days :D

Gotta say I kinda freaked when I put mine together and there was a creaking noise when I pulled the lever down. Thought the cpu would snap

I must be the only person whose 2500k went in quite unremarkably... Had far scarier moments fitting heatsinks onto socket A CPUs :P

Ohhhh I remember those days.... Wondering if you should replace the thermal grease or change it to try a different one then having to tighten down the old Thermalright SP-97 without cracking the cpu :D

Indeed, heatsinks should not require your entire bodyweight to install... And heaven help you if you snapped the nubs off the socket!

New lever system is awesome, no matter what it sounds like you know it's ok :D

All built up now had an issue with the themaltake venomus x cooler, didt know how much to tighten the knob I hand tightend and used the spanner with my little finger. Now just got to clean up the cables and then wait 3 weeks while amazon pull thire finger out and ship my hdd and os.

Or you could buy a cheap flash drive and use Ubuntu Live meanwhile.
