How much is my forum worth?

Its hard to value due to you not running any ads.

Why dont you try the buy sell section of digitalpoint or flippa to see what similar sites have sold for?

A forum is one of the hardest things to get going and that should be refelected in the value.

Well I agree. £300 for 4 years worth of forum building frankly seems a bit insulting. But on the other hand, I want a quick sale and nobody seems to have the foggiest clue as to it's actual value. :D
It's open market value is virtually nothing, but you've got this guy interested so it's worth more to him. Sounds like you should get him to bid first.

Had to look up what at lest 3 of the words in the OP meant.

You don't sound particularly fussed so go for £500 and see what he says, if he says no get him to suggest a price.

£1.00 per member = £3500 / £1750 each seems fair

Or

Lock half the site down to yearly subscription and make some big bucks

This really seems like the best idea to me. Agree to take a percentage of any revenue (not income after profit) for the next 2 years with an option for him to buy you out completely at the end of the 2 year period.
It's a rubbish idea. OP has already said he no longer has an interest. Last thing he wants is to be worrying about it for the next couple of years.

Find a price and move on to the next thing.

??? link the place to increase worth for sale? Seriously. Just write keywords on a google search.

Can't believe this thread has 2 pages. All because you can't make your mind up on the worth of your forum and expect us to have a better idea of it's potential value? (Plus you won't even link it) Ask him for an offer as you don't have a clue how much your time is worth and no interest in the subject of the forum. /thread

I guessed some people here might have experience selling similar sites, which would give me a vague idea.

Guess not though. Since the estimates here range from 53 euro's, to £3500, to insults.

;)

Don't forget, I predict the microsoft investment future of your forum. Put's the potential value at £1,000,000+.

The key point, is a forum is only worth what the buyer values it as. Personally, it's worth little to me (and you it seems). But if he offers high (in your opinion) then take it. It's that simple really. If his offer's too low then SHABAM! We've found your evaluation of the forum. Sorry I can't shine any light to an expected sale amount. But it's quite a niche situation.

I know a guy who sold a decent sized forum recently. It gets about 1000UV a day, and does make money.

The last reasonable idea I had from him was around the £12,000 mark. It may have gone up from there.

No links... I'm trying to leave the place, remember? So linking myself to it = not helping.

Probably not...but not helping us either? It's difficult to place a value on an unknown quantity as said before. Not linking doesn't help us compare it either though as how can we be sure it's your forum. You need to decide what it's worth to you, if anything. If you've bought hardware to keep it going, spent hosting costs anything at all, I'd like to think I could recoup them in your situation. Then, put your figures together, decide on it's worth and put it to the other guy. He could say yay, he could say nay. The less you're after will mean a quicker sale I'd guess though...
