How much is my forum worth?

I would sell it for a token figure (Like - domain cost) and then agree to receive a percentage of the profits for the next 12-24 months.

If you want to be fair this would be the way to do it. You don't lose out too much if it makes a craptonne and he does not lose out if it makes nothing.

If it's not making any profit right now and this other guy wants to run it profit free, it doesn't have any market value nor does it have potential value and is surely only worth the price of the domain?

Get him to sign something saying that you'll sell if for domain price/2, under condition that he won't turn it into a profitable business within the next X years. If he does generate profit within X years, you want 25% of it.

That's the whole debate mate - however, it's still the same as any other business. It has a value, the OP has invested time, money and effort into it, it's just reaching a valuation that is the difficult part...

Are you just being a tit on purpose? He owns a forum which has a decent number of users that could potentially generate revenue so people have sensibly said that he should ask for a token fee and a cut of all future profits.

If the forum makes no money then no one loses, if the forum makes money then they both win. If the guy decides to keep if ad free then no one loses.

You are just an idiot if you think that something has to be making money to have a monetary value.

If he has no plans for it but is happy maintaining it then why don't you just keep ownership of it but step back?

Why do you so badly need rid of it? Sounds like he's doing all the work now so why not let him carry on.

I'd stick adsense on it, then step back and let it grow and make some £.

is adsense the annoying one which underlines text and puts popup boxes full of adverts?

I would simply join play/amazon affiliates and make some banners for jpop albums...

Makes no sense to me, does no work to maintain it, so why just give it away for pence. Would take very little work to get it sorted with ad's and then let the mod's look after it and be happy to do so with the power trip it will give them.
