How much money in general do people have?

This isn't to show off that people have millions. :P

but in general how old are people and how much do they have saved? Would say over £50k be decent (need a car) but living with family and pay £20/week I am still 22 yr old (ow! 23 now). I've done college but never uni, I need to stop blowing money stupidly and concentrate on saving. Need to get my money counted up really have most in ISA (sucks nowadays)

SO in general what would you say people need to live life on?

There are already about 100x threads similar to this, is it so hard to search for one and contribute to it? http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18421600&highlight=family+money+live

Think that you are over-thinking: people aren't likely to produce anything more than a figure, which is useless. Fox probably has the right of it. Didn't spot it was the same poster.

Maybe this post was BS, but I am still worried for all the people who willingly give their personal information away in public places, where it will stay for a very long time and be visible to anyone.

Just bear in mind while you all count your hard earned moneys feelin' chuffed with yourselves..........an evil ******* like me can (and does) often relieve you of it ;)

A fool and their money as they say :D

50k at 22?

how on earth did you manage that????

I have to wonder about the intellectual capacity of anyone (OP) who asks: "Would 50k be decent living with family...". If by 23 years old they do not understand how high 50k is as a salary vs the norm, then I would question how on earth they came to earn it in the first place.

Im 27, earn 50k + bonus and just spunked all my money buying a 2 bed flat in wandsworth town with my girlfriend I therefore have zero money + mortgage :)

Anticipate having a good £500 - £1000 a month after bills but a good portion of this will go into mums pension scheme as she doesnt have that much

I'm amazed how many people are willing to share this sort of information. My view is simple when it comes to earnings and money, mind it!

Fair comment and I haven't discussed it either but does it really matter? Most people don't know each other on here other than the ones that go on meets but what difference does it make any way.

For instance I know you used to drive a TVR, GT3, RS4, like IWC watches etc. It's obvious you aren't short of a few bob, what difference would it make if everyone knew you were on £250k a year or whatever, other than the obvious that it's none of anyone's business.

Don't get me wrong, I don't care what you or anyone else is on, I'm just puzzled that you are amazed that faceless people on a forum are willing to share that information.

To be honest I'm less inclined to share that sort of information with people here than with people I do know.
I'd share all that stuff with close friends and family, but would never post about it on a forum.

How do you know that? Has he mentioned that he misses it at all? :p

You could look at it from a few different angles as to why it might not be the most advisable course of action, potentially (and of course depending on what you reveal) it's opening yourself up to a greater risk of identity fraud. There are companies who expend a lot of time and resources in trying to indentify what people earn to target them as customers yet you find many people are willing to provide this information for free - personally I'd not want to give the information away at all but especially not in a way that makes it easier for these companies to do their job. However my main objection would be what is probably a terribly British feeling that it's not really a subject for polite conversation regarding what people earn - maybe if you're very close to the person then fair enough but otherwise it might look a bit like prying/boasting.

Without a doubt I can totally understand someone not willing to reveal personal circumstances, it is after all none of anyones business. What I am talking about is why the amazement in people that do.

I take on board your comments on identity fraud though, something I haven't seriously considered.

Jimbo Mahoney that's sweet + thanks to others.

I did not ASK for people to give exact numbers and I know this is "secret" info and very personal and I have said to keep it very rough.

Should spend more time/money on speaking Serbian and hitting the gym though right?

Sorta grown an obcession with saving/making money :P - obviously again keep all rough/personal but I do hope to do something smart with my money, like invest further or uni. *But yeah I don't and never have had my own place so I've had it easy that way however I've always paid my way for things (not some "rich parents" handing you everything person) but if I had my own place I'd be paying £60/week? (that about right?) and bills, etc .....*

When I see threads like this all I see is "social engineering".

Tony I'm sure that wasn't your intention, but do you see the problem?

Roughly ......... a better way to rephase what I meant was this.... HOW much do you have saved to live on or if you need it? .. got the idea with a friend watching some advert that loan you cash and you pay back on your next pay day - surely you pay a lot of interest so why not spend super little or summitand have £3k-£5k saved and keep that as an emergency stash. - make no sense, do i? Or maybe like this - how much is smart to have saved - told my friend he should save a couple of g insted of spend spend spend whenever he gets money.
