How much space do I require for a brand new Windows XP Professional installtion?

As title.

1) Assuming I will NEVER install programs on it
2) All I will ever do with it is use Hyperterminal
3) Will 256MB RAM suffice?

If anyone replies, i've allocated 6.0GB and 256MB RAM.

(bearing in mind, I have absolutely no intention at all what so ever to do the normal PC stuff. I.e. Surf the net, install games etc. All I am using the machines for is, start it up, and run hyperterminal, and a bit of MS DOS)

you can get away with 2gb easily, maybe even less.

I would allow at least 4GB ( including an auto page file)

You may find you need more space for caching etc (which I think in some circumstances doesnt use the page file) and its also worth noting that a default Win XP Pro install can be quite large before you trim all the ***p from it

I have XP pro office 2003 and a couple of other apps on a 1.7gb harddrive and all works fine, pagefile set to auto and never had a problem as its on 24/7 and its only got 96mb of edo ram
