Was just reading an article on the BBC site about cutting down on spurious Freedom of Information requests and found some comedy gold.

He cites a request to the Foreign Office on the amount spent on Ferrero Rocher chocolate

Sometimes they may seem pointless and frivalous but maybe requests like that do have a point. For example the Ferroro Roche one could have been requested by the makers of ferroro roche and they wanted to know so they could use it in a marketing campaign. I don't know if that sort of use is what FoI is meant for, but it shows that sometimes there are reasons for it.
