How much will wii's sell for?

I've been monitoring an auction site for the past few weeks and the general trend is that users selling a wii pre-order will make around 40-80 profit as things stand. Is this likely to increase do you think come launch day? Obviously plenty of people will leave shopping centres disapointed friday morning and ebay might be their only option.

Reason I ask is i've just finished setting up my listings for the two consoles i'll be selling (moan all you want but i'm sure there's plenty of people on here doing it). I've been tempted over the past week or so to just sell the pre-orders rather than waiting till launch, but I've decided to schedule the auctions to end come launch day.

So yeh, people keep saying Nintendo are releasing plenty, but personally i think (and hope) demand will be too high, what are your thoughts?

think it wont really work how you expect it, i work in a well known high street electronics/games/music store, were getting in plenty and its only a (very) small store, also there only 179.99 new with a game ,thats the appeal of the wii, its cheap and cheerful, not that many i think will go bonkers and try and pay silly amounts, its not exactly got the same rep as PS3. You may sell for a small increase in price, but even stores with less, its just a case of going to a different place, maybe the next town down the road, and ya more or less most likely 2 get it

I agree, I too have a pre-order and was gonnna sell it and get the us model, but I think prices are gonna plummit on auction site as nntendo can make em quicker because they are simple to build.

i'm not expecting anyone to pay silly amounts. But as i said pre-orders are selling for around £250, or £300 with zelda too. So i'm guessing this will only increase with the hysteria of launch day.

Cheap? I beg to differ :)

Compared to £250ish + for premium 360, and stupid £429.99 for PS3 (pretty much same capability's as the 360, with much worse online support), then yes, its not bad for a new console ;)

Yeah there will be some di hard fans obviously, but looking at stock levels and such, + ALL shops selling it at 179.99 on pre order not -that many- will pay £250+ for them, those that want them that much will all ready have there pre orders in. But you have to think, a lot of people will try this as well (buy and sell for high price), at least as many as those that want them, so therefor price will go down, and there wont be much profit

Its out 8th december, 179.99, MASSIVE amounts of stock arriving around the 16th so iv been told on the inside info

But wouldn't it compare better with the xbox360 core then the premium...(or do you get a harddrive with the wii )

You can get Core 360s for about £15 more - a console which is far superior ;)

(edit - oops too slow)

Oh and no the Wii does not have a hard drive.

I want one, but I'm not prepared to pay over the list price.

I hope you don't make as much money as you are hoping for, because without people like you, there would be enough to go round.

I've got a 360 and that will suffice until I can get my hands on a Wii at the proper price.

Personally Id be inclined to agree with the profit not being great on the Wii, however if pre-orders are making £40-80 then looks like there may be a similar profit to be made.

Id be favouring profit from some of the accessories rather than the console.

You get built storage and a game, tack those onto the price of a core 360 and the difference starts building up.

i am going to sell mine day of release, did that last year with xbox & sold it for £850 :D The hype is at its greatest then & price will fall a few days after release.

A friend of mine works for a big haulage company that has been contracted for the last week and this week to distrubute the Wii to a major chain of stores. I think that you will find there will be more available in stores that ppl give credit for.

TBH i hope you get stuck with it and loose money.

Corrected, but still pertinent.

Would be nice to see one of these "I want to rip people off because they're desperate" schemes backfire.

Indeed, no one is going to make big money now that everyone has cottoned on, the Japanese PS3's went for silly money for a few days but then the market got flooded. US PS3 prices aren't anything amazing now either.

Anyone who really wanted a wii has had plenty of time to pre-order.

We can only hope that those greedy profiteering types get lumbered with systems they can't get their money back on and die lonely.

I dont have a problem with anyone selling stuff for a huge profit. I couldn't get and wanted a 360 at launch. But I'm not so impatient that I wanted to blow half my income on one. It took til feb before I found one in a shop.

If everyone had patience then it wouldnt happen.

But they don't so good luck to the sellers picking off the idiots who can't wait a few weeks.
