Having a cache does allow the drive to batch writes in a sensible manner depending upon the algorithm, but it's usually more writes /MTBF than the useful life of the device.
I wouldn't be running a production server from one SSD at all though, no matter it's specification.
All my servers use a SATA-DOM module as the boot disk. Totally sound solution. That’s what they’re for. You don’t want to do anything write-intensive though, as stipulated by Supermicro in the technical documents.
