How reliable is your car at the moment?

Just wondering how your cars have been in this weather?

Haven't started mine in about 3 weeks, went outside to see how the battery condition is, and it started first turn of the key and idled smooth as there is. Ran it up to temp, all electrics working perfectly and the engine sounds sweet and free revving.

I have had much newer cars let me down in these kind of conditions, so to say I am happy is an understatement. Who would have thought a 20yr old french car could behave in such a way :D

Absolutly fine.

Get in, let pump prime and starts on first crank, why wouldnt it.

(Its a Rover it will turn over! :p )

17 Years old now.

Didnt you just spend 6k on giving yours a GTI-6 conversion Dr Who, which kind of removes the 20 year old factor from the equation since only the actual chassis will be that old.

Bar a total loss of power briefly (happened once) a few days ago, its not (touch wood!) let me down once despite its age & the cold.

1996 328i - 126k miles. :)

Tempted fate now..... :(

Jeep is, as expected, unstoppable - built for much worse conditions than this.

Supra is fine, parked up for a week but starts on the first turn of the key.

Run classics in weather worse than this too, never had any issues either :) My old '78 1850HL automatic was great in this weather - nice smooth autobox, thin tires and a comfy, quick-heating interior made it a great little tool. Full choke, turn the key and off it would go :D

Cars been spot on, spent just over a week in the lakes over christmas and new year and i was really asking the car to be a 4x4 (had to dig out about 200 meters of driveway to get the thing to the cottage), but thats directional tyres for you! Went down to Birmingham yesteraday and again the car was fine.

But then again i wouldn't expect anything else, it starts first turn of the key regardless of outside temperature, ESP / TCS has kept me in check a few times.

Last time I replied to a reliability thread saying everything was fine my waterpump exploded a week later but hey, lets live dangerously.

Not had a single problem weather related.. yet ;)

ESP / TCS has kept me in check a few times.

I have been very impressed with the ESP/TCS on my wife's A3. Seeing other cars unable to move in our road, and watching them scowl at me while I did a 3 point turn on the hill was quite funny. (to go downhill rather than up it)

Ka - central locking doesn't unlock on the drivers door. Probably a simple fix but I can't be arsed. Also the cigarette lighter doesn't work. Meh, I'm looking to replace it in a few months. CBA.

I've been messing with the system to see its ins and outs over the past few weeks, a scandinavian flick at low speed brings the rear end round and in a constant slide angle without fail.

Even with my summer tyres on the car hasn't really got stuck, the TCS seems to allow quite a bit of slip before it brings the power back in rather than it thinking, wheels are spinning i'm going to kill all power.

Most interesting point has been the EDL, on a snow or ice covered hill it really does work and if you get stuck stops one wheel simply spinning up and will force the other to start turning.

Everythings A'OK with the Mondeo apart from last weeks ABS and TCS light coming on but a handbrake turn made them go out :). Starts fine some days is takes a bit longer but it starts and drives fine. Coming up to 150K now can't fault it engine is smooth as it ever was.

Mine was fine this morning, I've not driven it since the snow started, as I can work from home anyway.

Glad I changed all the fluids myself in the summer, to give me piece of mind (knowing the antifreeze was a good mix etc)

Her Renault starts first time every time, even if it's sat there for months. Mine, I was having some starting problems but I figured out what the problem was. I have ye olde style exposed ends on my sparkplug leads and with no bonnet they get wet. That's not been a problem, but when they freeze I get no spark :D

Quick wiggle of each lead end before I start it to break the ice and it fires up no problem.

Been very reliable up to today. Passenger side door (or rear one) seals have either perished, or got blocked, and i've got a nice smelly puddle in one of the rear footwells. Known Leon issue...great.

Sillicone sealant and box of tools, here I come...

My Mondeo has been completely faultless over the past couple of weeks and is really doing surprisingly well in the snow. My parent's e46 refuses to get out of the street even now when most of the snow has thawed and so they've been using my Mondeo too, it really is biblically kack in the snow, with the standard fir Re040s on it just plain doesn't want to know. I haven't even tried to move the Integra since it started snowing before Christmas, hopefully the weather will let up in the next week so I can take it for a bit of a run.
