How sick do *you* have to be before you go to the doctors?

I'm just curious, I know a lot of people who're stubborn and won't admit they're ill. Which to me is... well, silly. Is that the normal thing, or what? :p
I'll admit I'm ill if someone specifically asks me about. I don't want to be one of those people who's always complaining that there's something wrong with them.

I rarely get more than a cold so a visit to the doctor is seldom necessary. I think I'd have to be in severe pain or experiencing symptoms I was either completely unfamiliar with (and therefore worried I might be seriously ill) or symptoms that I recognise as being part of a more serious illness (like meningitis).

Depends, When i found a lump in my right testicle i was up the Doctors & had my cods in my hand within 25 minutes. :p But stuff like flu or other ailments i just go to the chemist & get what i need.

The last time I went I had Pharyngitis and needed a prescription for penicillin, that was a pretty grim experience. In most cases, drink plenty and paracetamol is my motive!

Around here it takes a week to get an apointment if it isn't an emergancy so there isnt much point going, if its that bad theres always A+E
they dont do a walk in centre? first come first between the hours of XXX and XXX ?

i thought nearly all surgeries did that now

As above, depends whats wrong.

I've been having shortness of breath lately so i've goine to the docs, which in turn has got be hospital appontments.

I now am wondering if i need to goto the docs for my eyes again, as they are spinning randomly, and last time i got put on schizo tablets :p

problem is, At my docs you have to call at 8am the same day you want an app.

But you wont be able to get though untill 9am and thats when they are all booked up.

Its damn annoying.

My docs you have to either phone up at 8am or be at the door otherwise you have to do the same again at 3pm.

Luckily I live about 15 seconds from my doctors :D

They will do emergency appointments at the end of the day.

i dont, ever, had a bike crash once left with a 3" hole in the back of my head, got up and walked home, parents eventually dragged me to hospital to have it looked at lool, i dont like doctors

last time i went to the doctors was in my 1st year of uni, and that was because my tonsils were going mental for 3 weeks (coincidentally exam time);

they did a blood test as they thought it might be glandular fever.

luckily it wasn't \o/
