How sick do *you* have to be before you go to the doctors?

If you feel ill then go to the doctors and dont post on here. you dont know till you go get checked out. better safe than sorry

Haven't even been registered with a surgery for fifteen years. The only time in that period where i needed medical help, (for an ear infection), i went to A&E at five in the morning.

In other words i don't seek medical help unless i'm holding one of my major organs in my hands or i'm in insufferable pain. Either way a hospital visit is far more effective than a GP appointment.

I hate my GP, so I have to be at death's door before I go there.

Same. They have this annoying habit of running extremely late, regardless of time of day. They somehow manage to be 30mins+ behind schedule by 10am, without fail, when the surgery has only been open a couple of hours.

Now I just wait a few extra weeks/months and then head in. Chances are they'll just tell you to "come back in a few weeks if it's still there" anyway.

Rarely.

Last time I went was over 3 years ago because my right knee was playing up. (Dislocated it when I was 10, I am 24 now).

All I was told is that if it dislocates again go to A&E and do I smoke?

Been pestered by the NHS over the last 12 months, asking if I actually exist and have I moved address? If so can they strike me off my local GPs register.

I went to the doctor's for the first time in about 6 years the other day. Had to get tested for the diabetes. Let's hope it's negative.

Similiar with me apart from diabetes part. Had to go recently for ear infection that stuck around for over a week and had ear problems twice since then. Never had ear infection in my memory.

I used to avoid at all costs, when I was younger I had a skin issue that I just lived with for about a year before I went to the docs! When I finally did go 2 weeks of medication and it was gone!

I haven't seen a dentist for about 9 years either!

If i've got the normal cold/sniffles etc then I won't go as it usually passes, however if it's something that just doesn't seem 'right' then I would go.

Sniffles, flu, colds and coughs I wouldn't entertain going to the doctors unless I started producing something other than phlegm.

Pain from something that cannot be attributed to anything I've physically done to myself is another matter.
I guess a week of "ouch" and I'd be booking an appointment.

Dying, been once in about 12 years and that was for broken bruised bones. Wondering if i should go back, but only want to ask a simple question.

Far too long.
Last example, I had a cough for all of December, and the beginning of January.
I finally had enough and went to the doctor. He gave me some antibiotics and it went away within a few days..

I also need to go for a proper check-up. I haven't had one since my school medical. And that was a very long time ago...
