How sick do *you* have to be before you go to the doctors?

I never do typical sickies, only time I have been off work was with inflammation of the brainstem, which was quite scary (6 months off) and when I had an accident at work where I knackered the ligaments in my left wrist and fractured my right thumb (2 weeks off, then light duties for a week or so)
That's in 7 years with same employer, other than those, not a single day sick.
So, I don't see the doctor much. I have no time to really. Work long hours and colds/bugs/manflu. Just load up with codein and work through it....then collapse when I get home lol

This. :)

Besides, the time you have to wait for an appointment, I guess I'll either be better or dead.

I've just found a radically different doctor's surgery. My old one had an appointment lottery - if you rang up at 8 in the morning and happened to be one of the first to get through, you could have an appointment later that day. Otherwise, hard luck. I transferred to the new one and was asked if I wanted an appointment for an hour later. They do a walk-in clinic too.

I go to the doctor for stuff that doesn't warrant A&E and isn't going away by itself, so I hardly ever go. They're full of people who are ill - I might catch something :)
