As You all know I really don't know what to do career wise, been looking into lots of different jobs and a Home inspector has cropped up. I can find all the information on it, even what exams and what you need to do to pass.

But What I can't find is how to train for it. Does anyone already do it, or know where to look. I found this page http://www.hicareers.co.uk/training/training.htm

Which tells you everything apart from how to do it.

Is it like a valuer/surveyor?
kind of they make the information packs which you need to sell your house, which include things like energy efficiency. That is required from the 1st of June.

I thought I read somewhere that they were thinking of postponing/scrapping this idea already ? before it even started !

The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) is being implemented in stages by Government in England and Wales between now and January 2009. It will require “Energy Performance Certificate” (EPC) to be provided whenever, with very few exceptions, a building of any description is constructed, sold or let. Go to www.energy-assessors.org.uk to learn more……

Department for Communities and Local Government Minister Yvette Cooper has released her latest statement about Home Information Packs, the key points of which are:

* HIPs will be introduced on 1 June 2007 and will include mandatory Energy Performance Certificates, searches and other legal documentation.

* SAVA is currently going through the approval process to become the first Certification Scheme for Energy Assessors and Home Inspectors.

* All Home Inspectors and Energy Assessors will have to have an appropriate qualification and be members of an approved Certification Scheme. The only current qualification that will enable holders to prepare Energy Performance Certificates is the Home Inspection Qualification.

* National Occupational Standards that will provide a framework of qualifications for Energy Assessors will be available from February 2007.

I would hold off for now.

The whole Home Information pack idea has been widely slated, and I wouldn't be surprised if come Feb they'll say ,"Actually it's not such a good idea".

I imagine the "training" won't be that hard, as if I remember rightly there is little to no useful information in the pack.

Try asking in an Estate Agents, I heard that they were going to pay for their staff to be qualified, thus keeping all of the home selling stuff ''in house''

Now you have to ask yourself.do you really want to work for the likes of them? :D
