How to disply the name not number?

Using my first Nokia (N82) in a while & seem to recall I used to have this issue but forgot how to sort it. When I receive text messages or calls it displays the phone number & not the name of the caller. Any ideas how to fix?

Is it because your address book is on your sim not your phone?

Hopefully sorted it, think it was due to duplicate names & numbers
