How to fix these holes?

Get it welded proffesionaly, don't mess about with filler and strand, it's a bodge in this case.

You need a welder... and a lot off time. Thats roughly what the dodge looked like... take it back and try welding you'll find its just rust for another few inchs..

When I had my MK1 I was always told to replace the panel as it will just rust through over and over.

Could anyone shed some light on this? How far inside the sill should I treat with Waxoyl/Hammerite? Any how much of the surrounding metal should I cut away, if any at all?

Wouldnt bother preping it yourself, leave it upto the guy who will do the job. Guy i take my cars to for spraying etc has to near enough redo everyone elses "preps"

Just brush some waxoyl onto it.

Well, looks like welding is a definite.

Drilled out the screws holding the side spats on, as I wanted to make sure it was all clean underneath, and what do I find...

Nothing.

Nothing as in, no metal! Just nice big gaping rusty holes
