I don't really know anything about classical music but can certainly appreciate it when I hear it and would like to give it a proper shot.

What is the best way to get into classical music? What should I start listening too?

My current music collection is mostly heavy metal kinda stuff so it will be some what of a leap.

Spotify is unofficially banned in this house as peer 2 peer downloads and a online gaming doesn't mix very well. You don't want to see what a house with 3 game design students looks like when the Internet is playing up D:

I just orderd the compilation off amazon. If I really can't get on with it, it can always end up as a Christmas present for someone :p

What? Spotify is not p2p. It's streaming.

Pretty sure I read that it works on a P2P basis. It certainly causes lag spikes when someone is using it that don't occur when streaming from youtube for example.

“Spotify uses a hybrid p2p system where music is delivered both by our servers and using P2P,” Andres Sehr said. “This allows us to deliver the long tail of music which may not be very popular, as well as quickly serve up the latest hits that the majority of users listen to. P2P allows us to both increase the speed that we deliver music and also lower the cost of streaming it.”

Unless they changed something since that article.

I'll give this CD compilation ago and might try tuning into classical FM. I shall report back after I've given it a good go.
