How to make the most of the gym.

So I downloaded a Calorie based app that is pretty cool. After entering some information, it determined, with my age height and weight, and the fact I plan to work out 3 times a week, that I need to eat no more than 1200 calories a day. Today, Im at about 1000 already, and I'm starving!!

Have you read the stickies?

Urm, I read the one sticky, but didn't see anything that really answered my questions.

As for my stats, Im 5'11, 160 pounds. Im a pretty slim guy, and always have been, however the past year or so, my stomach area has grown to now a point where because of my slim size everywhere, I look deformed! Due to this, my goal with reducing calories, and working out more, is to no just get rid of my stomach areas growth completely. Once this has happened, I will work towards gaining more definition on all muscles, but this isn't of much importance right now. Having the bulk and size on my stomach is affecting my life in such a way, that thats all I want to get rid of, doing whatever possible to make it happen.

So, just because I don't really know why, what is the benefit of noting the break down of Protein/Carbs/Fats? Once I have this information, what am I looking to do with it?

With regards to Calories, the same thing I suppose. What should I be looking to do with the information? I think there will be an app to allow me to note down calories, so ill look for one to use :D

Sorry for late reply i missed this. You can tend to be packing on more weight when you eat empty calories and can be found more in carbs and fats. While on the whole your diet looks good with specific numbers you can see what needs to be altered and where there might be over emphasis . Example : I might be eating Tuna Pasta and getting only 20grams of protein yet 100grams of Carbs which would be quite calorific. Simple alterations can be made which may aid progress. I see however you mentioned that your tracking of 1 day has clocked 1200 calories that is very low!!

Although you have concern with your stomach area my advice would be look at a structured work out for your whole body and the different body parts rather then going all out to target your problem area. The benefit will be that your body frame will become broader allowing your frame to hold on to more weight and look good  Similarly you will be working your body more

Hopefully some of the more knowledgeable members of this forum have more words to add!
