How to remove highlight boxes around icons in Vista64

Installed a fresh version of vista64 on my machine today, and am annoyed by the highlighted boxes that appear around desktop icons when you move over/select them...

How do you remove the option? Have looked everywhere for it and can't see an option to disable this feature...

Any help appreciated...

come to think of it, my x86 install does that too! :/

System Properties -> Advanced -> Performance Settings.

Make sure to check the box in the “Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop”.

If this does not work, go to Display Properties and click on Customize Desktop and Web. Make sure to uncheck the box in the “Lock desktop items”.
