How to steal a bike if cops are on your tail

yep,its always been the case. couple of my mates are cops and they have always been advised to back off from chasing high powered sports bikes as its just to dangerous to chase them at the speed they can go.

Its a tricky one, their hands are kind of tied. The papers bitch and moan when a poor rober on a bike gets killed becuase of the nasty police chasing them but when they then back off they get called for that as well. Cant win really.

We have got things all wrong in this country, thievin gscum have no rights, the yanks deal with it the right way on thi smater, just ram the fools off the road.

Its the same up here, the kids who ride their bike on the footpaths know if they don't wear a helmet that they won't be chased.

This has been the case for many many years. As kidloco said, the police are damned if they do, damned if they don't.

EDIT: And damn, didn't see someone had put that exact comment on the Mirror website haha.

What's the story? This is the right thing to do.

"The police told me they'd seen them speed off but they don't give chase to people on bikes as it's too dangerous."

Of course it is, how were the cops (who may not have had pursuit vehicles, or training) meant to chase down sports bikes?

The only ridiculous thing here is the Mirror's non-story.

Frontline cops would love to go after them but government and ACPO rules on police pursuits say otherwise when it comes to going after a motorcycle.

It boils down to litigation and we live in a country that is fast becoming the way of the US where people sue like there is no tomorrow.

But local MP Graham Brady hit back: "I am astonished that the welfare of criminals should be put before the public's expectation that criminals should be apprehended when the opportunity presents."

I would be interested to find out if he was so vocal when pursuit policies were introduced ?

The police force is not exempt from the hi-viz and clipboard brigade I'm afraid.

aaaaaaaaaaaah cool thats my mate Tony, he was not impressed, the cops even have a CCTV camera aimed on his shop and took them over 30 minutes to respond!!

Or just crash in to them full stop. Seen them do a PIT manoeuvre on bikes a few times on the usual police type programmes lol.
