Ok so a friend currently serving a sentence in jail. We didnt know which jail he was serving in so got incontact with the government. They asked for as much detail as possible & finally replied with an answer on his location.

After this i was out of the loop but my mate said "oh they have given me a reference number saying take it along to the prison & see what thet say".

Im not driving all the way to this prison without knowing i can see the person.

Is there a booking system or do we need to get the permission of person in jail etc???

normally youll need to contact the person (through letter) that you want to visit, they then send you out a Visiting order, (the number of VO's you get per month is limited but increases with good behaviour/how long you have been inside) you then need to phone up to book in your visit and then go on that day.

(thats the way its worked when I have visited I assume its the same across the country)

This ^

It was this way a few years back, i doubt it's changed much since then as not much does in the prison system.

Oh hey I can answer this thread, my brother was in jail for 2 years.

But rich1988 already answered it. God damn it.

What was he in for? Was he supposed to be in for life but you busted him out and you are on the run with him? Are you using a netbook and stolen wi-fi to post? Constantly having to be on the move?

that would certainly explain a few things :D

Well, judging by the amount of letters at work I see going to HMP establishments you need to write a letter, and write 'Bounce 2' or 'Fly 2' in the top right hand corner, and some anti-establishment slogan somewhere on the front, with a smiley face smoking a spliff.

He brutally hurts people with forum names that begin with a, have a d at the end and contain the letter 'o'.

But seriously, he used a taser on a bouncer and knocked out a policeman. He did other stuff, robbery, gta etc. I guess it all adds up.
