hi guys im just wondering i wantto watch 1080p hd movies on my pc got a.
q9550/4870/1080p monitor
im using my gfx card to the monitor using the dvi cable i got with the monitor is it as simple as getting a 1080p movie and playin it or am i missing anything.
because i havea 1080p film and wen i play it it seems quite grainy?
and someone said u can only play it if u have a hdmi cable???

DVI=HDMI(without sound signal)
so no you dont need a hdmi cable
what are you playing the movie on?
are you sure you havent streched it instead of filling the screen?

As Didaco says, DVI is basically the same as HDMI - HD movies will be perfect with DVI.

What media player software are you using? Also, which OS are you on?

im using windows 7 x64 and im playing it on windows media player classic using ccc decoder i think anything better i can use u guys advise?

Define grainy? Some movies will have noise (grain), it will stand out more than on a DVD because it isn't being smoothed out by upscaling.

Exactly,

The Matrix is a prime example of this:

Is that the kind of grain you mean?

Hello there and happy new year :)

Worst film to watch on blueray or dvd with grain is 300, thats the way the director wanted it mind but its very distracting ;)

Classic case of watching a grainy film

The grain is actually film grain, the higher the bitrate and resolution of the video file, the more you will see it. Being used to DVD for years has hidden a lot of the grain because they are much lower resolution and quality than 1080p. As said above, some films look very grainy as this is what the director/s wanted, I don't know why they do this as imo it ruins a lot of them because it's just too much.

cmndr i downloaded that codec u said and the x64 bits wat do i do after ive installed them.
is there anything i actually needtodo int he config or just leave everything alone and play the film?

the thing is tho guys and thanx again.
when ive installed these codecs/configs do i actually have 2 do anything settings wise or just install then play?

Doe's either KMPlayer or SPlayer meant to play blu ray or just HD format etc ? as it wont work for me. only works with my trail version of CyberLink PowerDVD 9.
which i'm not to keep on to buy..
