How to water this plant

Looks like cactus to me so I'd wait until it's bone dry and then soak it completely for ages, 1hr+. Should be every 2 weeks or so, depending on the weather/environment it's kept in.

Might be wrong though :p

dont soak them overwatering is one of the few things that can kill a cactus as they dont get rid of water fast, they just swell up and it can cause them to split which in turn leads to rot

just water them a few hundred ml every month

It's a cactus. Surely it would be watered little and seldom.

Apparently Zefan is correct

http://www.cactusinfo.net/watering.htm

It's a full soak.

Depends on where it is planted. The full soak over a long period is for "inground" cacti i.e. planted outside in the garden.

The bit he should be looking at is:

When watering, do it thoroughly. Water should flow through the drain holes, and the excess should be discarded after a few minutes.

However I don't see any drain holes in the OP pic. If there are no drain holes then the plants should be watered very little as, if it is standing in water (due to no drain holes) you will either get root rot or the plants will attempt to take on too much water, swell then split resulting in rot.

I have the same plants and they get watered every few months or so......when I remember.

They are thriving and have been for years.

no its not because the cactus will soak up more water than it can handle

http://cactiguide.com/cactipests/#overwater

OP just do the soak method tyou can atleast laugh at your cactus as its puffs out like a baloon.

dont blamre me when your cacti splits down the sides and probably develops rot

The two sources are not incompatible, if you read the one I provided then it makes it clear what the correct procedure is,
you are assuming he then over waters by deviating from this.

I think we should credit the OP with being able to follow simple instructions :)
