Will be running Win7 64bit!
Wount be used to game. Mainly used to surf the net, watching movies and some audio editing/encoding.

Good enough?

Will i get a descent overclock?

Will it be a lot faster than my [email protected]?

The spec looks fine, other than the bracket situation, but as you say, it'll probably be sorted by then.

What issue with SSD's though ? ...I don't know of one, well JM Micron based ones are basically rubbish, but the others are fine, the Intel you listed is the best MLC SSD there is now.

Crucial ssds don't have any issues that I'm aware of. I used a J micron ocz one for ages and was fine, people complained about stuttering. Limit how often the system writes to the drive and you're laughing.

It'll be stupid amounts faster than your 3ghz c2d, but only if you push it. Looking at the intended use I think it'll spend the vast majority of its time idling. Perhaps just get the ssd and keep the current machine?

The thought did cross my mind but im using XP and Win7 is better for SSD plus how long can i put off moving onto the next OS? I think its time. WinXP has served me well but i think its time to move to the next OS with better hardware/support.

I do spend most of my weekend doing audio rending/encoding using various software including Sound Forge which involves cutting and pasting, editing, recording and im finding that its a little slow due to HDD and processor. Plus encoding a few gigs worth of .wav to mp3 can take a while. I thikn with this new build all will be better/quicker.

Its a case of might aswell move with the times.
