I have 4 hard drives (300GB each) with 1 failed. It is running Win Server 2008 which sees two 300GB hard drives. Unfortuantely I cannot shut it down to see what RAID it has but I guess x2 RAID1.

I assume I can hot-swap the failed drive without Windows going crazy?

Has it got the HP tools installed on it? Smart Storage Administrator will tell you what drives are doing what, and what controller is in there.

Then you can work out if hot swapping is an option.

On a G6 ProLiant, the RAID tools might be the older Array Configuration Utility (ACU). Either way, if ACU or SSA isn't installed, grab it from HP.com and install before pulling drives.

Thanks. It's a P410i with 2 logical drives and 4 data drives. I suppose that's fine to hot-swap and let it rebuild automatically?
