HTC Desire Z passing under the radar?

Can someone confirm my issue with screen orientation, HTC on live chat think im talking poo.

load default browser, put in landscape, place phone on flat table, desk, let it sleep, turn it on with out picking it up, has the screen remembered it was in landscape or defaulted to portrait?

Confirmed, defaults to portrait.

To be honest i'd never have noticed it until you mentioned it!

Maybe placebo effect but everything seems to open that little bit quicker and smoother than before...

I love the look of the Desire Z, my brother has one and it feels fantastic.

Currently have a Moto Defy, and its living upto my clumbsiness but I am so missing qwerty keyboards! I just hope by my upgrade time in October that there is an updated Desire Z around, with a bit more ooomph like the current dual core phones + gorillla glass to withstand the scratches my phones get!

It's bloody annoying, HTC did agree with me in the end. I now have to keep my keyboard out all the time to stop it.

It is faster i think, app manager used to be so slow and laggy but its much better now.

Not sure what I think about the app list sectioning.

Hey folks, I stumbled across this on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1206930
Someone seems to have managed to retain S-off and root under the latest 2.3 update. I'm still on original firmware, haven't even had time to root, but I'll make sure to do it before updating, as it seems to be a massive hassle having to downgrade if you decide you want root afterwards. 2.3 is a one-way street it seems.
