Just got mine on orange upgrade this morning after a hillarious chat to the upgrades department. I had a HTC 3600 previously (SPV M700) and wanted to upgrade. £129 the lady said. No way I said. Maybe I'll go and get an iPhone on o2 I said. (Don't worry I wasn't ever really going to do that) Ok, let me see what I can do she said. £80 off she said. That's still not free I said. Ok she said, one minute. Actually, I can do it for free, she said. I'll take that one, I said. Oh no, it's one of our most expensive phones, I can't do it for free, she said. Well that's unfortunate, I said. But I can do a deal, you pay £109 for the handset now and I'll credit your account with £130, she said. I paused for a second or two in suprise. Sold, I said!
Honestly from costing me £129 to them giving £21 credit on top of the phone cost, I couldn't quite believe it.
Any way, it came this morning. It looks stunning. Personally I think the hardware looks better than the iPhone. The screen is super crisp and responsive. I haven't had much chance to play with it all yet. The touch flo system is pretty smooth and easy to use.
Personally, I don't like the half screen keyboard. It's just not quite big enough. I will be using a full screen keyboard.
[Edit] Just found a feature that lets you connect the phone as a storage device for increased file transfer speeds. Took just over a minute to transfer a 350mb file as opposed to 14-15 minutes when connected via active sync.
I've taken one snap in my dimly lit room and I have to say the camera is pretty crap. Slow frame rate and no flash is a bit of a poor show, but like others have said, if you want good photos, buy a proper camera. I'll have another go in the light tomorrow.
MP3 playback quality sounds 100x better than it ever did on my SPVm700 and the 3.5mm jack is extremely welcomed. The touch music player and library works quite well too. I had to tweek the eq in Sound Booster. I'm not sure why "Normal" preset has boosted bass levels and normal trebble levels, which made things sound very muffled. I had to boost up the higher freqs but things were great after that.
That's my experience so far.
I'll install tomtom and have a play with the GPS tomorrow but I've already heard good things. Also I'll test some video playback with coreplayer
