Hey guys, been reading this forum the past week and specfically the two threads relating to the two phones in the title.

I would like your opinion if you think the Note 2 is worth paying £37 a month for on a 24 month contract or am I better off getting the HTC One X (16gb model) at £21 a month.

Is the £16 a month difference for a Note 2 worth it?

Thanks

If you think you can get used to the extra size of the Note2, then it really should be a class above the OneX.

I have an order in for an LTE Note2, but it hasn't arrived yet so I can't comment on specifics. It's getting extremely high praise from those who have used it though, especially in regards to the quality of the screen and the long battery life.

MPD have the note 2 (non-LTE) for free, 36 a month, ult texts + data, 2000 mins + free t-mobile mins. I got this deal and it's an amazing phone, truly the best. Makes all other phones look like puny toys, if anyone shows me their new iPhone 5 I'm gonna laugh so hard !

I would have got LTE, but tbh I believe the prices are going to be a rip off & if I'm honest I don't need faster internet on my phone.

Is their anything else thats different, I mean I would take the N2 in a heart beat over the 1X, but what's data allowance like?

Get 1gb data which would be nice with the Note 2 and only 250mb data with the One X but I pretty much have wifi available to me most of the time.

And unlimited minutes for the N2 where as I get 300 mins for the One X but I rarely go over that 300 minute figure.

So its really a case of is the Note 2 worth the extra outlay. I presume it would hold its value quite well?

I think I could get used to the size, I've played with it a couple of times and now the S3 and One X look small in comparison hah.

I'm upgrading as i'm with Vodafone so I don't have the option of T-Mobile.

I wouldn't hesitate on the Note 2 normally but it is basically on the maximum of what I can afford so I just want to be sure its the right move.

Screw it you guys and everyone else I've spoken to has convinced me to take the plunge, now white or grey?!

Dialaphone, Mobiles.co.uk or buymobilephones.net Which company would you recommend? They all do the same deal.

If they've all got them in stock, check out topcashback/quidco for whichever is offering the highest amount of cashback and go through them.

I got mine through mobiles direct for £31 a month with 300 minutes, unlimited text and 1.5gb data, paid £9 for the phone (got £30 cashback), but they were the only place to have stock at the time. I think you can get them for free now on the same tariff.

Check out Techradars phone contract comparison for the best deals.

I got mine with Three on the one plan (mostly because it was the ONLY place to have tethering inclusive and with no data limits whatsoever) - £36 pm, 2000 minutes, unlim texts, unlim data, tethering and handset for £69 - which paid for itself with quidco cashback.

It is a phenomenal device. The titanium looks amazing (the side trims match as well, which they don't on the white - but I'm sure that's great as well) - if you're interested in the SPen then it is phenomenal, I can draw with almost as much detail as I can with a good wacom pc tablet, the 1024 levels of sensitivity is wonderful and the pen itself feels good -in fact better than my tablet's pen to hold.

The battery life is heavenly. So far I've not had to think about holding back once.. and today it has been taking some heavy usage, streamed 3 episodes of Breaking Bad on Netflix through data, listened to 4ish hours of music on spotify, also streamed via data, lots of screen time, browsing the web, taking emails, sending texts and making a few short calls. I tethered my laptop to data for a half hour through USB, but it seemingly traded juice output for juice input and the battery didn't go up or down much whilst tethering. I also made a few NFC trades with a friend who has an S3 just to see what it's like and it's good :D. At 65% and still going strong.

My Note 2 has been the best buy of the year, and the best phone I've ever owned. I think my next will be the Note 3...

I considered the One X, the S3, the Lumia 920 and waiting for the Optimus G, but I'm very glad I chose the Note 2! You can tell I'm a happy consumer.

I couldn't do quidco cos I am upgrading so that wasn't a factor for me. I called buymobilephones.net and they said they can't do upgrades with Vodafone and then they lied and said only Vodafone directly do upgrades to which I told him was a lie and left quickly after.

mobilephonesdirect thought I had mug written across my forehead saying I couldn't get any of the deals on the site for new connections and instead my cheapest option was £41 a month with £9.99 handset price. So I called Dialaphone who I upgraded with last time and promptly was able to get the same deal as a new user.

The only annoying thing is that I couldn't get it sent to my current address in Nottingham where I am studying so its being sent to London which is a pain in the arse and from there I'm going to have to get it sent by someone back to me! Can't bear the wait argh!

Haha Raventu I definitely can tell you are a happy customer and along with everyone else who has one, everyone is raving about the phone which helped me take the plunge.

IMO the note II is a clear winner BUT..........only if you don't mind the size.

Touchwiz version on the note II looks great features wise, S pen, far better battery life (best there is), audio, better 1080P and slow motion recording, multi-tasking amongst other wee things.

Main advantages of the X IMO are:

- looks/design
- sense

And for a lot of people, screen quality.

Pretty fair summary. FWIW I just sold my OneX and bought a Note 2. The OneX is, in my opinion, by far the better 'mobile' in all but battery life. It's so nice in the hand, lovely design, screen big enough to let you do most things, but it's very heavily let down for me by the battery. If I got the Note2s battery out of the OneX, I'd probably never have sold it.

That said, the Note 2 is just a stupendously great piece of technology. It's not a single handed device (and I've got pretty big old lumps), but the capability of the device coupled with how long it can do everything you ask of it is just insane. It just goes on, and on, and on, and on, and on...

and on, and on, and on!

I've got the One X and it's a fantastic bit of kit. However things like no microSD and inferior battery let it down. It's still an excellent device the screen is on another level and JB has further improved on it.

I've been really tempted by the Note 2 and just ordered via the German rainforest site due to the excellent returns procedure on the rainforest site. Whacked it on a 0% credit card so will give me 30 days of testing it out!

If I get use to the size I might have to give up my One X and sell my iPad to fund the purchase as I don't really use my iPad that much and the note 2 should be sufficient to take care of my iPad usage.

The multi tasking of the GN2 especially the dual windows is cool, the DAC is better than Tegra 3's DAC, microSD, I've got a 32gb lying around from my SGS2 waiting to be used. The S-Pen, how many times are you in a call and you don't have a pen to jot down a number or such, very cool how Note opens up and you can jot whilst talking, the screen size will be ideal for longer web browsing sessions on the go and reading compared to <5" devices.

Let's see!

Yep, I have had a play around with it and at first I thought yeah its maybe just a little too big but a couple more times looking and playing with it, I was coming round to the idea.

I'm sure I will adapt to it and enjoy the larger screen more.

If not, it's worth £500 odd so I could sell it and get something else and pocket the rest.

Glad I saw this thread. I too am torn between the OneX/OneX+ and the Note2. I'll be leaving an iPhone 4 so will take a lot of adjustment, but I like new toys. Like the appeal of the "phablet" but am nervous of the size being an issue for drunken texting etc lol.

Haha mate, the phone is brilliant! This is coming from someone who didn't believe in big phones before I was turned by this masterpiece.

I'm actually going out tomorrow night so I can get back to you on how it handles drunk texting haha.

I don't have another micro sim compatible phone!

Im happy to report the phone handled a night out perfectly fine, I even somehow managed to set it to one hand keyboard mode without trying to hah!
