Tens of thousands of people are paying fraudsters to sit their driving test for them, the BBC has learned.

The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) says impostors charge up to £500 and can have taken more than 200 tests each.

Slightly worrying?

The thing is, what can they possibly do to end schemes like this?

Maybe in about 100 years, you'll need to insert an ID card into the car to start the engine :D

True, but at least I didn't claim you could legally do up to 80mph on a dual carriageway :D

And take a picture of the person who takes the test and send that back to DVLA to be compared there against the person on the licence (you surrender the provisional licence at the test center after passing, and the two photos are compared by someone at DVLA).

You can't stop it entirely, but there are some fairly simple ways to make it much much harder to pull off, partly down to getting additional staff in just to do the checks, and partly by keeping a record of people as they pass the test (so staff can check to see if that face is really that familiar).
