A new Xonar shown in CeBIT!!

It looks like a USB DAC, with it's own linear power inside I guess.
Will it take on the Benchmark DAC1? 32bit audio?
Looking forward for it :D

Looks like a standard DAC with integrated headphone amp... might be decent, but there are so many units out there on the market to choose from already. If it's a good spec for the price then it may do well (although if it relies on any software support from Asus for functionality then it's already destined to be an afterthought on their part).

By the way, I'm afraid I don't trust the OP's impartiality. His post history on this forum over three years only consists of posts bigging up the Xonar series, so it wouldn't surprise me if he's an Asus product shill. Just my opinion, and I don't mean to offend anyone of course, but I doubt I'm the only one who will suspect this.

Yes I thought that, when I first saw this thread. There have been quite a few members who only seem to post when it's something to do with Asus products.

Will be interesting to see opinions on this Asus DAC, when osme credible sites get their hands on it.

head-fi review needed

also agree with Dolby headphone comment, this moves the sound in games from inside the head to into the room and is a lifesaver for long gaming sessions.

for music i dont use DH though :)

very interested in this though as i have a xonar dx and its fantastic but i would like just a bit more dedicated to the headphone section.

Joining the premium internal PC soundcards from Asus is a standalone audio converter promising audiophile performance.

The Asus Xonar Essence One is break-out box offering USB digital audio input, as well as traditional coaxial and optical S/PDIF. With the help of its Texas Instruments PCM1795 converter chip, it can play audio up to 24-bit/192kHz format.

Additionally, an onboard upsampler can up-convert to 32-bit/384kHz format. A separate setting will provide bit-perfect passthrough of audio data, without further upsampling or bit truncation.

For connection to an audio system, there is one pair each of RCA phono sockets or balanced audio through XLR connectors. A high-grade headphone amplifier gets its own volume control on the front panel.

In order to preserve audio quality, the Asus Xonar Essence One is supplied with a dedicated power adaptor. UK price and release date are yet to be announced.

ha.. well.. the only reason I was here was because I bought a Xonar from OC, and it's in my old HP now. Haven't got anything else here before and since. Also in the realm of sound card, please name me another sound card except Creative and Asus? I've used soundblaster for ages, thought it wasn't worth mentioning at all...

:(

So people has to post here and there to look "clean"? that's easy...

BTW, I also wonder how it sounds...
