Q1 - 18 minutes - All 20 cars run, Top 15 go through. Bottom 5 positions are set.*

Q2 - 15 minutes - Remaining 15 cars run, top 10 go though, Bottom 10 poitions now set.*

Q3 - 12 minutes - Remaining 10 cars run. Balls to the wall. Sets the top 10.*

*before any penalties...

With the little breaks between the sessions, things can happen. Have had dry Q1 and Q2 and wet Q3's in the past, and vice versa.
It's not my favourite quali format. I still love the hour saturday, with 12 total laps per driver. Just go drive fast. No trawling around hoping the track rubbers in, you have limited fast laps so you have to go for it.

Do we think Russell has the race pace to hold off the Ferraris realistically? Merc always seem to do better in the race this year so there's that to consider. Hopefully as there's not many long DRS straights (or mostly corners, whatever) the Red Bulls wont find it so easy to get back up through the field. If Hamilton has pace as well, it could get fiesty.

I was supposed to be going to a local music festival today and tomorrow, but alas we finally succumbed to COVID. At least we've got a decent-ish looking race to entertain us tomorrow instead :o
 
can see him getting mugged on lap one unfortunately. its a good race car but it takes a while to find its groove. If he can stay close in to pit window hopefully that groove means he can do a longer first stint or something. don't rule out benefitting from ferraris tripping over each other either.
