HUNGARORING - BUDAPEST - HUNGARY Grand Prix 2009 - Race 10/17

My understanding is that KERS is not being removed for 2010. If teams wish to run it, they may. It just isnt essential (ie. in 2009, no KERS meant ballast must be added, but in 2010, no ballast will need to be used).

Perhaps someone could clarify this?

The rules haven't changed for KERS, its just a gentleman's rule within FOTA that they won't use them, I believe.

autosport recons they could win, by getting infront, and using KER's to defend.

dont see it myself but would certainly make a welcome return.
Totally possible, overtaking in Hungary was always difficult and with a KERS car in front impossible, every time the 2nd car is a bit faster McLaren can push the KERS button and defend the inside line, only way to overtake is to do it around the pitstops.

Kovalainen tops Hungary practice
Heikki Kovalainen snatched top spot from Nico Rosberg with a last-gasp flying lap in a tight first practice session for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Well, the 2 McLarens have topped the time sheets in 2nd practise, with Hamilton leading the way.

Tomorrow we shall find out if the pace is genuine.

Also, it is a little worrying that the Brawns dont seem to be showing any real pace. They tend not to be so fast in the practise sessions, but they arent usually this far back.
