Hunger games won't have the same director :(

Interesting to see how many people didn't actually like the film, and I think myself that the director change will obviously have an impact on the film, but you never know if for the better or worse, I think the first went well though and the others may not go as well as the director won't already have a feel to the film like the original one would. Nevertheless when I said "perfect" I was being a little to optimistic but we will see, I loved it personally :)

Have you read the book? If not i'm sure you'd change your mind about the film if you did.

So much was cut. There were huge changes to very important parts of the storyline. There was zero character back story. Gale was pretty much a non-entity. Peeta was so miss cast it was hilarious, same goes for Haymitch. The entire point of the book was completely missed out in the film.

Honestly I don't see how they could make a sequel with the sheer quantity of very important plot points they skipped or just completely changed.

Obviously book -> movie conversions always undergo some changes, but there were large portions of the story that were seemingly changed for absolutely no reason and in doing so just completely missed out/changed the entire point of the book.

At the end of it the Mrs and I just looked at each other and said "Well, that's another book ruined."

It'll never be a perfect trilogy. The first one is full of problems. The shaky cam was a nightmare at times and the violance was toned down way too much.

how was Peeta portrayed in the book? because in the film i couldn't help but think it was a complete mismatch when looking at the two of them. She's clearly stunning, he looks like a slightly developed ape, his brow protrusion honestly scared me. Plus he was a right ***** throughout the entire thing.

Genuinely felt bad for the Gale bloke.

Worth me reading the books?

Peeta is meant to be well built alright but nothing special powerhouse (due to working in bakery and lugging around bags of flour all day, and being well fed unlike others in D12), very strong, kind of guy that makes someone feel safe just by being there.

Yet for some reason in the movie he's shorter than Katniss, and doesn't look like he could fight his way out of a paper bag.

"Stocky build and medium height with bright blue eyes and ashy blonde hair that falls in waves over his forehead"

Peeta has a great amount of strength from working at the bakery, first mentioned by Katniss; Katniss says she's seen him lift bags of flour over 100 pounds "right over his head "

He should have been much bulkier in the movie. Also he's meant to be an excellent speaker, yet they make him mumble his way through the film. Plus his entire attitude, and body language just don't match the character from the book at all. Not to mention the whole Katniss / Peeta dynamic was completely off the mark.

Honestly, read the book, you'll be surprised just how much better it is. It's an easy read as well, you can get through the whole trilogy in a week.

You mention how Peeta is a ******* in the film. I couldn't agree more. They totally messed up. In the book he's very protective, everything he does is trying to keep Katniss safe, and she treats him like something she stepped in. In the book Peeta is the good guy, and Katniss is just a whiny teenage bitch for the most part. It's a much closer thing between Peeta and Gale in the book. Gales the athletic, laderkiller good looks, I wouldn't say 'badboy' but more 'exciting' one. Peeta is the beefy, average joe, caring, dependable, 'homely' one.

yeah that pretty sounds the opposite of what I viewed on screen, he was way too small, and he didn't throw a bag of flour front what I recall, we saw him throw a few bread buns that's it. Made no sense when she said that.

Actor, too small. If anything the guy who played Gale would have been a better match for the character, he was pretty stocky in comparison and at the very least taller than Katniss.

Aye i could well pick them up on iBooks next week, cheers for the heads up.

Smoking hot protagonist but otherwise a **** film, go watch Battle Royale 1 + 2 for an epic story.

Hunger Games ripped it off, btw.

Something had to change to improve the pathetic first film. I was outraged I paid money to see it (haven't read the books either), it was just a diabolical film that should have been canned before they spent money filming it.

Doubt anyone could save it now though :(
