I don’t understand, women supposedly better driver? How?

OMG WERE ALL DOOMED!!!!

Seen far worse than that before. Ive left my car that far out before due to sheer lazyness. Now instead of slating her, go give her a hammering.

You'd fail a test if you parked like that (or at least you would have when I took mine - these days you have to run someone over to fail).

Compulsory and full re-tests every 10 years would sort it all out. You'd either have to learn to drive and park properly or lose your license.

Theres no way thats a fail on your test.

It certainly used to be in the good old days of proper driving tests.

My instructor would have opened his door looked out and said

"shall I book a taxi to get me to the kerb then?"

I wonder if people who say this would pass the test nowadays.

Pretty sure it is :/ When I was learning, my instructor always made me finish a grid's width or less away from the curb, and I was under the impression that was what they failed you for.

Over a foot away from the kerb? Definitely would have been a fail 20 years ago. Despite there being more to do on modern tests, they're far less stringent.

We had a long discussion on this a while ago during which someone said they got two minors for hesitation and not using their mirrors enough. I failed my first test for these exact two things and nothing else. The modern test is thus demonstrably easier to pass, QED.

I'd never pass any test if it was dropped on me by surprise but then I doubt anyone here would. Give me a while to brush up and I reckon I'd be fine.

If you're trying to infer that people here who passed the "old style" test 10-20 years ago would be incapable of passing the modern one then you're living in a dream world. Most people who took the old style test will be far better drivers than those who've taken the modern one simply by virtue of having been driving for so much longer :p

Milage not age will define a more experienced driver. :)

Not always the case.

Some of the guys at work, two of which have covered 40k in the last 12 months are the worst drivers I've ever seen.

Both showed no remorse for other drivers, low concentration, never EVER checked their blind spots when changing lanes on the motorway (one of them didn't even use his side mirrors)... one of them was an ex police man too.

As for the picture in the OP, if you do that on your test and pass, god help us all.

I love parking. Parallel parking is my favourite. I love watching someone struggle to get their Fiesta or C2 into a space and then I'll just go and whip my car right in getting out with a huge grin as they drive past, hehe, I'm such a child.
